Down's Community Farm is a growing community hub and we are working across a range of project areas to achieve our mission. We are excited to share more on our current key projects below.
We believe working collaboratively with community friends, partners and supporters is essential to achieving the best outcomes for the community - so please get in touch with us to share your interest in being involved or supporting our progress!
Creating a functional, all-weather space on site
We're working closely with Frankston City Council towards the construction of a multipurpose all-weather facility. This facility will provide a versatile space on site for a range of activities, including workshops, community events, and educational programs.
Market Garden Project
We're designing an urban market garden to grow sustainable and fresh food for the community and offer training and employment opportunities to young people.
We are currently seeking community partners and supporters for this project.
Outdoor Camp Kitchen and Food Events
We're establishing a portable, outdoor 'camp kitchen' with a range of cooking facilities to offer unique outdoor workshops and community
cook-ups on site.
Get in touch if you're interested in running a cooking workshop!
Our Goals and Plans for Impact
In 2020 Down's Estate Community Project (DECP) as we were formerly known, undertook an extensive community consultation and planning process to develop our long-term vision and plans for the farm. These plans were submitted to Frankston City Council for endorsement and now guide the development and progress of Down's Community Farm.
In 2023 we are working to continue connecting with and growing our community; develop purposeful partnerships to support our mission and deliver benefit to the community; and to complete our planned projects and secure adequate funding for our future work.
Explore our challenges, successes and the diverse range of projects and work we've previously completed in our Annual Reports.
